THE 27TH LETTER OF THE ALPHABET

HELLO THERE, RANDOM STUMBLERS. HERE IS A SIMPLE QUESTION. HOW MANY LETTERS ARE THERE IN THE ISO BASIC LATIN ALPHABET (ENGLISH ALPHABET IF YOU'RE DUMB)? IF YOU ANSWERED 26, YOU'RE RIGHT. BUT, ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A "27TH LETTER" (NOT REALLY BUT SURE). LET'S DELVE DEEPER.

A LONGLONGLONGLONGLONGLONGLONG TIME AGO, THE AMPERSAND (&) WAS COMMONLY PRACTICED AS THE 27TH LETTER. THIS WAS BECAUSE... THE WORD "AND" (PRONOUNCED "ET" IN FRENCH & LATIN BACK THEN) HAD A SYMBOL. NOT MANY OTHER WORDS HAVE SYMBOLS LIKE THAT, SO "AND" WAS SPECIAL. IN LATIN, THE WORDS "A" & "I" WERE SPECIAL BECAUSE THEY WERE ALSO ONE LETTER WORDS, AND EVEN THOUGH "&" WAS NOT TECHNICALLY A LETTER, THEY WERE STILL TOLD TO PRACTICE IT THAT WAY.

SO, LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE STORY. ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A ALPHABETIAN NAMED "AND". HE WAS THE COOLEST KID AROUND BECAUSE HE WAS BOTH A WORD & A LETTER. BUT THEN THE COMMIES CAME AROUND & DECIDED: NO, HE COULD BE A DOUBLE AGENT FOR THE WORDS. WE HAVE TO SEND HIM AWAY. AND SO, THEY DID JUST THAT. (THEY DIDN'T DO IT TO A AND I THOUGH, BECAUSE THEY WERE RACIST IDIOTS.) SO "&" JOINED A CULT CALLED THE "SYMBOLS."

THE END

OH, SO NOW YOU KNOW THIS INCREDIBLY USELESS FACT THAT'S ALSO TOO LONG TO EXPLAIN AT PARTIES. CONGRATULATIONS!

EDIT: SO, BECAUSE OF THE FONT THIS BLOG USES, THE "&" SIGN IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT THAN SHOWN BELOW, IF YOU ZOOM IN RIGHT HERE => &, YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THAT IT IS ACTUALLY AN "ET" SQUISHED TOGETHER, WHICH IS IT'S ORIGIN ANYWAY. PRETTY USELESS, BUT SORT OF COOL, RIGHT GUYS? RIGHT?
